Golden Moments: An Autumn Family of Three Photoshoot in Greenwich Park
Exploring Greenwich Park with a Mama and Her Two Sweet Sons | A London Photographer’s Tale
Greenwich Park is iconic. This ancient space conjures up images of sweeping landscapes, iconic views of the London skyline, and paths that wind through lush greenery. It’s where nature, history, the cobbled streets of the town, and family moments intertwine beautifully. Recently, I had the absolute joy of capturing a mother and her two spirited sons in this enchanting corner of London during the vibrant season of autumn.
The Magic of Greenwich Park in Autumn
As a London photographer, I’ve often marveled at the versatility of Greenwich Park. But there’s something truly special about autumn here. The park transforms into a symphony of golden yellows, fiery reds, and warm oranges. Leaves crunch underfoot, and the crisp air carries a sense of nostalgia and renewal. The perfect stroll with a coffee and croissant. It’s a place that feels both grand and intimate, offering spaces for quiet reflection and areas that invite playful energy. For this particular photoshoot, the park was the perfect location to stay together but for children to be carefree and children.
We began near the Royal Observatory and Rangers House, where the maple trees where turning autumnal tones of red and rust, where the boys were immediately drawn to the log piles and fallen autumn leaves and seed pods. The laughter of children echoed as they threw leaves by the fistful. I encourage this kind of play, I’ll even ask them to throw them at me for some really fun shots, their mother’s gaze following them or closely trailing behind. These candid moments are where the magic lies—unscripted, honest, and full of life, with a cinematic feel.
Capturing Connection
Photographing families or mothers and children is about more than just documenting smiles; it’s about telling their story. Victorias bond with her sons was palpable. From the way she held their hands and how they gaze up at her knowing she loves them unconditionally.
One of my favourite spots was under an ancient tree. Here, the boys climbed with the guiding hand of their Mama. I framed the scene to highlight the layers of connection: the steadfast trees, the playful children, and the mother who anchored it all, they all sat together for an embrace under this beautiful secluded little space.
A Personal Connection to Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park isn’t just a stunning location for me; it’s deeply personal. I grew up in Greenwich, spending my life here up to my mid-20s. This park was my childhood backdrop—a place of countless memories, from family picnics to moments of quiet reflection. Returning here always feels like coming home. It’s a place where my roots are intertwined with the paths and trees, and capturing other families’ memories here feels like an extension of my own story. Equally I know it like the back of my hand, if you want colour we can find the rhododendron in spring, the secret garden or flower gardens for a dog-free space, the magnolias in May and of course the colourful trees in autumn.
