A Day Trip from London to the Coast – Capture Your Family’s Story by the Sea in Margate, Kent

There’s something magical about the coast—the way the sea breeze softens everything, the laughter that carries on the wind, and the freedom that only wide open skies and sand underfoot can bring. Just an easy train ride or drive from London, Margate, Kent, is the kind of place that invites you to slow down, take a deep breath, and just be with your people.

And it’s in those gentle, in-between moments—barefoot on the sand, giggling as the waves chase tiny toes, or cuddled under a beach towel—that the most beautiful family memories unfold. These are the stories I love to tell through my lens.

This collection of black and white and colour images tell the story of the session - cuddles, exploring, emotive glances, close up’s of ever changing children and being together.

Wild and Free – Where Children Can Just Be

If you know me, you’ll know I’m not here for stiff poses or forced smiles. I believe children shine brightest when they’re free—free to dig in the sand, run with the wind, collect shells, and explore without pressure.

During our session, I gently prompt and guide where needed (yes, I’ll help you feel relaxed in front of the camera too!), but I always leave space for your kids to just be. I watch for those glances, giggles, and quiet cuddles. The real stuff. The you stuff.

And there’s no better backdrop for this than the beach. The golden light dancing on the waves, the drama of the cliffs, and the endless sky all add a dreamy, cinematic quality to your family gallery—without needing to fly across the world.

Boys simply love the wilderness of Botany Bay, where their true selves can shine.

Why Margate?

Margate is more than a beach town—it’s a vibe. Whether we explore the tucked-away corners of Botany Bay, dip toes in the tide at Walpole Bay, or wander through Margate’s charming streets for a mix of beach and town textures, this place offers something truly special.

It’s also incredibly family-friendly and perfect for a day trip. Hop on a train from London, grab fish and chips on the seafront, let the kids run wild, and then let me do what I do best—turn the moments you didn’t even realise were magic into memories you’ll treasure forever.

Dig, cuddle, spin, climb - let your childs nature be true and free.

Your Family, Your Story

Every family session is a little different, and that’s exactly how it should be. Whether you’re a snuggly crew who love quiet moments, or your kids are full of wild energy and curiosity, I meet you exactly where you are.

We’ll wander, play, pause, and laugh. There’s no pressure to perform—just time to connect, unwind, and soak in the joy of being together in a beautiful space. And I’ll be there, capturing the warmth, the softness, the chaos, and the love.

My Number 1 Advise for Prepping Children for a Photoshoot?

Children long to understand and learn - they can be bribed and distracted and whilst bribery and distraction work some of the time they can stir up an energy we don’t want whilst letting them immerse in the space whilst we shoot.

The night before our own family photos I explained to my son, then 5, that I simply adore watching him be 5 and getting to know him in his 5th year of life, I went on to explain that its so important to me to capture all facets of himself right now and how our family looks - I said I want to see it all, his wild side, his affection to his siblings and me and Daddy, how his freckles have all come out this summer and his new hairstyle he chose. I want to remember Dad and I whilst we are our age so when you’re all grown ups I can look back at the best years of my life.

He was taken aback. I don’t think I’d ever told him really why photography is so important to me. On the session I simply and gently reminded him how I’d love him to take part so I can have a memory of everything we talked about and it was truly like a magic switch. He still challenged us and asked when it would be finished but he also gave it his all too - VERY sweet.

Planning a day trip from London to Margate? Let’s make a little space for your family’s story. One filled with salt air, laughter, and memories you’ll never want to forget.
