Botany Bay Family Maternity Session | Awaiting Baby No. 2 with Two Under Two – Margate, Kent
Golden sands, wild cliffs, and barefoot love—embracing the beauty of family and new beginnings at Botany Bay.
The Magic in Capturing Pregnancy with a Toddler on Botany Bay, Kent.
When welcoming a second baby whilst your toddler is still somewhat a baby - maternity photos might be the last thing on your mind. So why choose to have a maternity photoshoot now? Because this is an honouring of your first child and your family unit of 3, the triangular family.
It’s also taking a moment to connect with this baby you’re lovingly anticipating. The whirlwind of first time parenting whilst your family rapidly grows. For this Canterbury based family we chose Botany Bay, Margate, Kent as the ideal location to keep their sweet girl busy and engaged in nature whilst we documented their connection.
A friend once said to me “your first child teaches you how far your love can go, our second teaches you how wide” and within that shift you become a circular family, a continuous bond. Your child becomes a sibling as connects with arguably the most constant bond they’ll have through life. Divine.

Sandy toes and a mothers loving hands, muted neutral tones to enhance the storytelling of the whole scene.
Taking in the Details
During your session I prompt my clients to connect and touch, to trace the outlines of their childrens growing toes, to feel into their partners skin and to make intentional eye contact. This prompting creates imagery that is rich in emotion and nostalgia. I want you to think “rememeber when her fingers felt so tiny? I wish I could go back and kiss them one more time,’ when you look through the gallery in years to come.
As your Kent photographer I pride myself on noticing the moments you gently kiss your childs head or tickle their toes. The way your partner squeezes your shoulder brimming with pride and adoration. These are the moments between the moments, the intricate storytelling of just a single hour in your lives that encapsulates everything you all are right now.
This shoot beautifully reflects the essence of motherhood and togetherness in a setting that feels both intimate and expansive, perfect for those seeking a storytelling approach to their maternity and family photography.

Picture Perfect is OUT - Perfection is in the Connection
When a family arrives at Botany Bay, Margate, Kent, to be photographed by me I create a space of relaxed and natural play where we rise about the ‘perfect’ smiling at the camera photo and instead focus on the way your family love one another.
The more free, the more yourselves, the more naturally you interact and connect the more ‘you’ the images will feel. So I invite you to let go of what you believe a photoshoot will be like, let go of any pressure to perform and instead be guided by the love for our childrens natural expressions, my gentle prompting and the freedom of the beach.
Heartfelt embraces and tender kisses—capturing the quiet magic of motherhood and the unbreakable bond between mother and child by the cliffs of Kent.

The muted, overcast sky casts a soft, diffused light, enhancing the warm and earthy tones of their clothing and the natural surroundings. Barefoot on the sand, this family embraces the wild beauty of nature, creating an ethereal and timeless scene—one that tells a story of love, anticipation, and the beauty of family life by the sea, Botany Bay, Kent.
So Why Botany Bay, Kent, or Why Outdoors in Nature?
Children THRIVE outside. I rarely meet a child who gets onto the beach and doesn’t take a huge deep breath, rarely do I meet a pregnant mother or family even who don’t arrive on the beach and just exhale. The sea air, the rhythmic waves, the natural beauty of the East Kent Coastline is unmatched and impossible not to enjoy.
But rest assured if your child isn’t running around like a puppy or if cuddly, or is unsure, we will gently allow them the time to relax. I have had sessions (even on Botany Bay, Kent) where a toddler hasn’t reached that point of complete comfort and the images tell a different story.
